Radiothon is extremely important to 94.1FM as a community station. We are limited to the amount of revenue from sponsorship, but we have the same expenses as other radio stations. This is why we need Radiothons to assist mainly with capital expenditure such as updated equipment.
Radiothon is also important to keeping the station on-air by indicating to licensing authorities (ACMA) the demand for the station.

Without Radiothon in today's world 94.1FM would not be "On-Air".
Our relocation to Mermaid Beach has proven to be highly successful in the upgrade of technical delivery and to also give us space for proposed Community Activities.

RADIOTHON REVENUE has assisted in the relocation of Office & Studios to Mermaid Beach. A temporary ON-AIR Studio (Mermaid Studio 2) is installed and all programs are now broadcast from this studio. When our main studio is completed this studio will be used for all production and backup.
MERMAID - TAMBORINE LINK
Our new Mermaid Office does not have "line-of-site" to the transmitter tower at Tamborine Mountain. This meant the design and purchase of a "totally new delivery system" to get signal to our transmitter.
94.1 plan to order 2 x Tieline Bridge-IT XTRA II digital codek transmitter/receivers. One to transmit our studio signal to Tamborine, and the other to receive that signal and transfer to the transmitter. This installation means a much clearer digital signal with return monitoring so we are able to constantly monitor the transmit and receive quality. Another feature of this system is a backup standby which automatically switches in should a main signal fail.
MERMAID STUDIO 1
In true community spirit, 94.1FM teamed with The Vietnam Veterans Nerang Men's Shed for the construction of our main ON-AIR desk which has been purpose built to cater for a new mixing panel and all associated equipment. The desk is also designed for in-studio interviews and show production. Many hours has been spent by the Men's Shed team.
New computers, stands and distribution equipment have been purchased and the order placed for the new digital mixing desk which offers many internal features including remote access to all systems. 94.1FM will also be installing the DANTE digital distribution system. Due to equipment delivery delays it's forecast the new studio will be fully operational for the new year.
